Introduction
The Jim lyke Foundation is a non-governmental, non-religious and
non-political organization comprising of persons who are engaged in the
advancement of the protection of rights and welfare of children with
various deformities. This project is necessitated by the flagrant
neglect and abuses of the rights of children born with deformities in
Nigeria. Our paramount concern is to promote the well-being and improve
medical condition of deformed children with particular reference to
facial deformities. Considering the inadequate structures put in place
by legislation in particular and the general apathy towards the welfare
of these children by the public in general, the rights and privileges of
a child born with deformity has been grossly battered and trampled upon.
The Jim lyke Foundationis therefore a direct response to the yearnings
and aspirations of these helpless children and an effort towards the
alleviation of the suffering of certain members of the society now
derogatorily referred to as deformed. By identifying with the cause of
these children, we intend to sensitize the public on the plight of
children born with various degrees of deformities in a polity where
access to a standard and affordable medical treatment is almost
non-existing.
It is in this light that our foundation has decided to embark on a well
focused humanitarian programme to address the question of neglect and
plight of these children. We intend to promote right to life and basic
necessities of children as enshrined in the constitution, African Union
and the United Nation Charter. The aim being to articulate our vision
with the resources internally generated and provided by the corporate
and private entities in Nigeria and beyond.
